Step 1 of 4 · What's a counting pattern?
A counting pattern is when each number jumps by the SAME amount.
Look at the jumps. If every jump is the same, you've found the pattern!
Step 2 of 4 · Going UP
3, 6, 9, 12, ?
Find the jump: subtract any number from the one after it.
6 − 3 = 3
9 − 6 = 3
12 − 9 = 3
Pattern: +3 → Next = 12 + 3 = 15
Step 3 of 4 · Going DOWN
50, 45, 40, 35, ?
When the numbers get smaller, the pattern is subtract.
50 − 45 = 5 (going down by 5)
45 − 40 = 5
40 − 35 = 5
Pattern: −5 → Next = 35 − 5 = 30
Step 4 of 4 · Your turn
What's the next number?

Nice work!

You found the patterns.
